Things to Do in Wilmington NC at Night
Live Music Venues in Wilmington
Wilmington punches above its weight for live music. On any given night there's something happening somewhere downtown.
Bourgie Nights
Bourgie Nights on Princess Street is Wilmington's dedicated live music venue. Not a bar that happens to have bands. A proper music venue with a real stage, sound system, and booking calendar that pulls touring acts alongside local talent. Check their schedule. Friday and Saturday nights are the main events.
Live Oak Bank Pavilion
Live Oak Bank Pavilion is the big outdoor amphitheater on the riverfront. 7,500 capacity, national touring acts, sunset behind the stage. Season runs May through October. Check our complete Live Oak guide for the full schedule, parking, and what to bring.
Greenfield Lake Amphitheater
Greenfield Lake Amphitheater is the most beautiful concert venue in Wilmington. Surrounded by cypress trees on the shores of Greenfield Lake. Summer concerts here are something special. Many are free or low-cost.
Thalian Hall
Thalian Hall has been hosting performances since 1858. Theater, concerts, comedy, film screenings. The ornate Victorian interior makes everything feel like an event.
The Wilson Center
The Wilson Center brings in Broadway touring shows, major concerts, and big-name acts. State-of-the-art facility with excellent sound.
Jengo's Playhouse
Jengo's does intimate live music, comedy nights, and film screenings on Princess Street. Smaller space, different vibe.
Wilmington Bars and Breweries at Night
Wilmington has a deep brewery scene. For the full list, check our breweries guide. Here are the best nighttime picks:
Best for a Chill Night
- Flytrap Brewing - Downtown-adjacent, relaxed, food trucks
- Hi Wire Brewing - Princess Street, open late, good beer
- Ponysaurus Brewing - Market Street, approachable vibe
Best for Date Night
- Wilmington Distillery - Craft cocktails made from their own spirits on Dock Street. Open until midnight or later. Intimate, interesting, and different from another brewery.
- Bridgewater Wines + Dines - Wine bar with food pairings at Porters Neck
Best for Groups
- Wilmington Brewing Company - Big taproom, lots of space
- The Bend - Market Street, open late, food and drinks, usually has room
Trivia Nights and Bar Games
Brewery trivia runs almost every night of the week. Monday at Flytrap, Tuesday at Ponysaurus, and more. Free to play, prizes for winners. Check our Trivia Nights guide for the full schedule.
Late Night Food in Wilmington
The Bend on Market Street is open until midnight on weekends. Fermental on S 17th Street stays open late on most nights. For late-night downtown, your options thin out fast on weeknights. Plan accordingly.
What About the Beaches at Night?
Carolina Beach Boardwalk lights up at night during summer. Arcades, rides, boardwalk food, and people watching. Summer Friday fireworks are a local tradition (check schedules for times). Wrightsville Beach is quieter at night with a few waterfront restaurant options but not much nightlife.
Check our events calendar for tonight's events or filter by live music to see who's playing.
