Where to Eat After the River to Sea Bike Ride
You just rode 20 miles from downtown Wilmington to Wrightsville Beach and back. The ride wraps up around 11:30 AM. You're hungry, sweaty, and probably running on nothing but a granola bar and adrenaline. Here's where to refuel.
Downtown Wilmington (You're Already Here)
The ride ends back downtown, so you're already parked and ready to walk somewhere. Most of these are within a few blocks of the Front and Princess Street area.
Breakfast & Brunch
The Basics - Princess Street. Straightforward breakfast spot. Eggs, pancakes, the works. Solid post-ride fuel without the hour-long brunch wait.
Benny's Big Time - Pizza brunch. Yes, pizza for breakfast. Yes, it works. One of downtown's more unique options.
Hops Supply Co - Good brunch menu with coffee that doesn't taste like hot water. Indoor and outdoor seating.
Coffee First, Food Later
Port City Java - Multiple locations, including one downtown. They're a ride sponsor, so you're supporting the people who made the event happen. Quick coffee and pastry if you're not ready for a full meal.
Fortunate Glass - Wine bar that also does coffee and pastries in the morning. Quiet, good if you need to decompress before re-entering society.
Post-Ride Beers (It's Before Noon, You Earned It)
Front Street Brewery - Right on the ride route. Post-ride tradition for a lot of regulars. Beer and pub food.
Waterline Brewing - Cargo District, a short drive from downtown. Best outdoor space of any Wilmington brewery. Sunset views from the patio but the morning light is great too.
Flytrap Brewing - Downtown-adjacent. Chill space, good beer, food trucks rotate through.
Wrightsville Beach Brewery - If you want to head back toward the beach for the rest of the day, stop here on the way. Casual, bike-friendly, close to WB.
Wrightsville Beach (If You're Heading Back)
The ride turnaround is at Wrightsville Beach Park, but you don't get much time there during the ride. If you want to go back after:
Tower 7 Baja Mexican Grill - Right at the beach. Solid tacos and margaritas. Outdoor seating.
Surf House - Coffee bar and café on Causeway Drive. Good for a lighter post-ride bite.
The Bridge Tender - On the waterway, seafood-heavy. More of a lunch spot but opens early enough.
Quick Fuel (Grab and Go)
If you don't want to sit down for a meal:
Harris Teeter - Landfall location on your way to or from Wrightsville Beach. Grab a deli sandwich, protein shake, or snacks.
Britt's Donuts - If you're heading to Carolina Beach later, this is the move. Cash only. But that's a 25-minute drive, not a walk from downtown.
