Stamp Defiance Chapter, NSDAR, Awarded National America 250 Patriot MarkerDedication Ceremony to be Held at Battleship Park in WilmingtonWILMINGTON, N.C., March 5, 2026— The Stamp Defiance Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR) has been awarded a National America 250 Historic Marker. This recognition honors the Chapter’s commitment to remembering America’s Forgotten Patriots—including African American, Native American, and female patriots—whose contributions shaped the fight for independence.The Patriot marker will be formally dedicated during a public ceremony on Friday, March 20, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Battleship Park, adjacent to the Battleship North Carolina Memorial (1 Battleship Road, Wilmington, N.C.). A reception will follow.“We are deeply honored to receive the NSDAR America 250 Patriot Marker,” said Lynne Ashcraft, Regent and America 250 Chair of the Stamp Defiance Chapter. “This recognition is a meaningful reminder of the need to preserve our nation’s history and honoring the patriots whose sacrifices shaped our freedoms.”Dr. Jay Martin, Executive Director of the Battleship North Carolina Memorial on Eagles Island, will deliver remarks alongside dignitaries and invited guests as the Chapter commemorates the ideals of service, patriotism, and remembrance at the heart of the America 250 initiative. The SGT Eugene Ashley High School Navy Junior ROTC (NJROTC) and the Lower Cape Fear Chapter Sons of the American Revolution will also be present in support of the event.“This is an important moment for us at the Battleship North Carolina Memorial,” Dr. Martin said. “Long before the ship was berthed here, North Carolinian minutemen marched across this very ground on their way to the Battle of Moore’s Creek Bridge. We’re honored that the Stamp Defiance Chapter chose our site for this memorial.”The dedication ceremony is open to the public.
