Wilmington Riverwalk / Riverfront Park

1.75-mile wooden boardwalk along the Cape Fear River through downtown. The spine of the downtown experience with restaurants, shops, and bars on the landward side and river views on the other. Walk the length from Chandler's Wharf through downtown to the Coastline area. Benches, historical plaques, public art, and views of the Battleship across the river. Best times: morning (joggers, dog walkers), sunset (gorgeous light), evening (bar/restaurant crowd). Access points throughout downtown. Free and always open. The single thing every visitor should do.
