Begin the Conversation is a public awareness initiative created by Lower Cape Fear LifeCare with the purpose of encouraging people to identify and communicate their health care choices.  At any time and at any age, people may be unable to express their medical wishes as a result of injury or serious illness.  Not only does having a plan make it more likely that wishes are followed, it is a real gift to those faced with these tough issues!  Don’t wait…it’s time!About the Speaker:Jason ClammeCommunity Impact ExecutiveLower Cape Fear LifeCare After spending his childhood on a farm in Indiana, Jason majored in Economics and minored in Political Science and Philosophy at Purdue University. He then went into the most logical field—youth ministry, working at a Lutheran church in Minnesota. There he met and married Becky, and together they made their way to North Carolina. Along the way, Jason earned his Secondary Education certification from Ball State University. After teaching for a year and a half at Burgaw Middle School in Pender County, Jason took his first position at Lower Cape Fear LifeCare as the Volunteer Program Manager, supervising more than 300 hospice volunteers. Then two years later, he became the Director of Community Outreach (Engagement) and now oversees the agency’s involvement in the community— including more than 100 annual speaking engagements, community education, health fairs, Chambers of Commerce events, and community collaborations and partnerships.  Jason is passionate about educating people concerning the special kind of caring that is provided by LCFL as well as other end of life topics, including Begin the Conversation, the agency’s advance care planning program.
